We also have a Visitor and Knowledge Center. Here you can see up close some of the preserved birds, fossils, and insects of Bonaire. Other displays will give you a deeper understanding of Bonaire’s biodiversity. Try to match the seeds to the tree species or see if you can find a sea bean that has floated all the way from Africa. Learn about Bonaire’s geology and next time you are driving around, you will better understand Bonaire’s evolution and what stories rock formations tell.

Take a stroll through our shaded greenhouses where we grow and sell native plants. It’s a great chance to plan your garden or find a native tree you might want to plant and see grow each time you visit the island. All sales go directly back to Tera Barra to fund the work.

Arrange a visit for a school class or a children’s barrio outing. One of our goals at Tera Barra is to share knowledge and build enthusiasm for our natural world, and we are happy to share what we have discovered with the next generation so they too will have an appreciation for Bonaire’s nature.

Tera Barra maintains beehives to further support pollination of native trees and plants. If you’re lucky, there might even be fresh honey for sale, a real treat to take home and savor.

We have a goat pen to show how to responsibly have goats without destroying the local environment. You can often hear them bleating as you walk the nature trail and then suddenly you arrive at the pen and will be enthusiastically greeted.
